Podcast5: Surviving Dachau, Liberating Mauthausen

This podcast is an Internet rebroadcast of a presentation given this morning, October 18, 2005, at the International Cultural Center of Texas Tech University. Mrs. Eva Hance is a survivor of the Dachau Concentration Camp, and Mr. Mark A. Geeslin, United States Army, 11th Armored Division, was a Liberator of Mauthausen Concentration Camp. Both Mrs. Hance and Mr. Geeslin gave presentations to K-12 students who traveled to the Texas Tech International Cultural Center, and to students who attended the presentation via distance learning / videoconferencing connections provided through Education Service Center Region 17, the Texas Tech College of Education, and Texas Tech University Video Services.

This podcast focuses on the value of Veteran Oral History interviews and the ongoing work of the Texas Tech Vietnam Center, located in Lubbock, Texas. The podcast includes an interview with Dr. James Reckner and Mr. Steve Maxner of the Texas Tech Vietnam Center. Teachers and students from around the world are invited to get involved with oral history projects and utilize resources provided online for free by the TTU Vietnam Center.
